樹皮漆器內側（色漆層）完全防水，外側（樹皮面）若可見原始樹皮紋樣，則僅防潑水; 若不見樹皮紋樣，則完全防水。

一般養護，以拭鏡布或毛刷將落塵去除即可。若有油脂沾附漆面，則可用稀釋的中性清潔劑，清潔色漆面，再以海綿擦乾。樹皮面若不慎沾水，只要盡快將水份擦乾即可。

避免將作品置於溫、濕度劇烈變化的環境中，如烤箱、洗/ 烘碗機等。茶匙及少數茶則類作品內外皆包覆樹漆，完全防水，但仍不建議長時間浸泡於液體中。

漆面耐熱、抗菌、抗酸鹼且具一定硬度，但不耐摔。樹皮面與漆面的交界處尤其脆弱，大力碰撞可能導致裂痕（可視情況修復）

The interior (colored lacquer layer) of the lacquerware is completely waterproof. If the original bark texture is visible on the exterior, it is water-resistant; if not visible, it is also waterproof.

For general maintenance, use a micro-fiber cloth or a soft brush to remove dust. If grease adheres to the lacquer surface, use a diluted neutral detergent to clean the colored lacquer surface, then dry with a sponge. If the bark surface accidentally gets wet, simply dry it promptly.

Avoid placing the work in environments with extreme temperature or humidity changes, such as ovens, dishwashers, or dryers. Items like tea spoons and similar pieces are coated inside and out with urushi lacquer, making them completely waterproof, but prolonged immersion in liquids is still not recommended.

The lacquer surface is heat-resistant, antibacterial, and resistant to acids and alkalis, with a certain degree of hardness, but it is not impact-resistant. The junction between the bark and lacquer surfaces is particularly fragile; strong impacts may cause cracks (repairable depending on the situation).
